Boston personal injury lawyer: Keep an eye on the red flags

Filing a personal injury claim in Boston can feel overwhelming, especially if you are unsure of where to start. Massachusetts has clear laws, but even with all the information available online, it can be hard to determine the proper steps for your unique situation. It is best to meet a Boston personal injury lawyer to discuss the prospects of your claim, and you can rely on them to guide you at every stop. If you have never hired an attorney for such mishaps or injuries in the past, it can be another challenge to find the right one. Below are a few red flags that you must keep in mind.

    1. They don’t have time. No matter how experienced an injury lawyer may seem, they should take new clients on priority. If you called their office and didn’t get through, try again for a day, but do not wait for too long. If a lawyer is not responsive, they are certainly not the right fit for your case.
    2. The lawyer wants a fee for a case review. No lawyer should charge you for reviewing and evaluating your claim. The first meeting is always free, even with the top attorneys. You shouldn’t pay anything for the initial talk, where you can get to decide whether you want to engage the lawyer.
    3. The injury lawyer wants an hourly rate. A contingency fee is the standard norm for all personal injury lawsuits. If the lawyer cannot recover a financial settlement for you, they don’t get anything, regardless of the number of hours they have spent on the case. If the law firm states that their attorneys want a retainer fee or an hourly rate, that is a red flag.
    4. The injury lawyer wants to inflate your losses. Honesty is one of the many virtues you should expect from an injury lawyer. Therefore, when someone says that you should lie about your injuries and losses, it is evident that they don’t have any care for ethics. Make sure you don’t hire someone willing to state false facts.
    5. The injury lawyer is not sharing case details. If a lawyer says that they have credible experience, they should have landmark cases and higher settlements to their credit. When someone doesn’t want to share facts about their practice, it is certainly not a positive sign.

Find a lawyer as soon as you get injured in a mishap to maximize the use of time.
